Come celebrate Thanksgiving Monday in the presence of the fastest equine athletes in the land at Ajax Downs for Canada's biggest day of Quarter Horse racing. Two $100,000 Championship stakes events highlight a fantastic 11-race card which gets underway at 12:55.
Plus, bring your kids to our fan-friendly track and the first 100 will receive their own pumpkin to decorate. The pumpkin giveaway begins at 1:30 p.m.
The richest Quarter Horse race in the country is race nine on Monday, the $119,150 Alex Picov Memorial Futurity for 2-year-olds. A full field of 10 youngsters will dash 400-yards with morning line favourite Home to Vegas seeking to remain undefeated. The Ontario-bred bay is owned by Brian Samis and Marie Broadstock and popular Tony Phillips will be riding.
Older horses are also on display in the $100,700 Alec Picov Maturity and the remarkable mare First Down the Track, in the midst of a four-race winning streak, is the heavy favourite with leading jockey Brian Bell on board. First Down the Track is owned by Richard Wincikaby and DK Training Centre and she will have six challengers in the 440 yard sprint.
