Battling in Grassroots and Gold Series events across the province, the trotters and pacers competing in the Ontario Sires Stakes provided fans of all ages with memories that will last far beyond 2016.
“When I raced her up in Rideau, when I took her to the winner’s circle there were people lined up along the fence that just wanted to be close to her,” recalled driver Randy Waples of three-year-old pacing filly champion L A Delight’s Aug. 21 Gold event at Rideau Carleton Raceway.
“They just wanted to ask me about her and wanted to be close to her. She had fans up there too, that’s pretty amazing.”
Many thanks to all the drivers, trainers, owners and caretakers who participated in the 2016 Ontario Sires Stakes season, who made an effort to reach out to fans and supporters, and who continue to make the program the very best in North America.
Congratulations to the Super Final and Grassroots champions, the Lampman and Johnston Cup winners, and the division winners. Your dedication to excellence made for another thrilling season for harness racing fans across the province, and well beyond Ontario’s borders.
